Ongole, is a large town and a municipality in Prakasam district in the state of Andhra Pradesh, India. It is the administrative headquarters of Prakasam District.

During 70's and 80's many small scale manufacturing enterprises, such as shoes, paints, PVC, pharmaceuticals, but the majority did not survive competition from other parts of Andhra Pradesh or out of state, despite being the earliest manufacturers of the products in the coastal districts.
