Agartala (Bengali: আগরতলা Agortôla, Kokborok: আগরতলা) is the capital of the Indian state of Tripura.It is situated in North-east India. It lies on the Haora River and is located 2 km from Bangladesh. It has temples and palaces. The population of Agartala was 367,822 in 2004 after the municipal expansion (189,327 in the 2001 census).
